Description
My 4 year old daughter, and one of her beloved rat companions. Rats may not be the perfect pet for everyone, but they really don't get enough credit, as they can be very sweet, cuddly, and loyal. They're also small enough that a calm rat (Like the pictured girly), can be easily handled by a small child.
One big pet pev of mine, is animal people, who are against children having animals. I see it a lot with rescues, where they will not adopt out to homes with young children. While pets in a home of irresponsible parents, with rowdy kids can be tragic disaster, I was raised from birth with pets surrounding me, as has my daughter.
My love, and compassion for animals began very young. Animals can play a vital role in personal growth for children if allowed, by learning about friendship, love, life, and often, even death. Early imprinting is important to children, and having good experiences with animals at a young age, can imprint those happy experiences in the mind, for a lifetime.
While of course I don't vouch for every child having animals available at all times, I'm a firm believer that children should be allowed close contact with friendly animals. Shame on the animal adoption agencies, who are too lazy properly screen, and instead, choose not to bring children, the future, into the realm of humane animal treatment, and showing them what loving, and being loved by a pet can be.

I actually have 2 blue rats myself, a mother, Sibilla who looks identical to yours above, and her baby boy, Carlisle, who is a pale blue with a white star on his head. I adore them! I also babysit, and when the little boy comes over, Sabilla loves to sit on his shoulder! Though she is very big, so he usually lies down and she will curl up on his tummy <3
