My miracle little Mudspitz

Want to make me smile? Show me this happy, sweet Colbie face! This was taken tonight, just a couple hours ago

The other day my chocolate parti 21 week old Pom was in critical condition, with the vets saying it was distemper despite symptoms not totally adding up, and being fully vaccinated. Turns out she had a severe case of coccidia! We own chickens, are at the lake and a creek often, so there's plenty places this could have come from. She had been treated for what was thought was giardia (Both are hard to diagnose, as they only show up sporadically) and had seemed to clear up but turns out not so.

She is recovering now, but not out of the woods yet, though we have a lot of hope. She was suffering liver failure, anemia, and hypoglycemia and we're doing a retest on her levels either tomorrow or Thursday to see if there's been improvement, but she's walking, asking to use the potty outside, and playing though still weak, but is gaining her strength. We see this as nothing short of a miracle!

This is a pic of her taken this evening. Pretty good for a puppy multiple vets said had distemper and would be brain dead/never recover!

We still owe on a couple things, and will have more costs soon, but looks like we're in the clear shortly. Man, I hope! But most importantly, Colbie is still here. And Colbie seems to be getting healthier by the hour. A little bitty Mudspitz miracle!
